Maëliss

Tag | Playlist
RACE: Sylvari
CYCLE: Dusk
BIRTH YEAR: 1325 AE
HEIGHT: 148 cm (156 with mushroom)
STATUS: (former) Pact commander
PROFESSION: Mirage
ORIENTATION: Bisexual

Maëliss awakened in 1325 AE. In her Dream, a knight claded in green armor slayed all those who opposed him. She discovered this knight was Bercilak, a vicious courtier who preyed on the weak. Thanks to thorough swordfight training and with the help of Gawain, a Sylvari Bercilak was lusting after, she triumphed of him.

She came to understand that her Wyld Hunt was to defeat the Elder Dragon Zhaitan. This lead her to join the Order of Whispers in which she was given the title of Lightbringer and eventually, to become a commander for the Pact. Thankfully, she was not alone in this endeavor. Iekko, a Sylvari whose Dream ressembled hers in certain aspects, worked alongside her and, together, they defeated Zhaitan and brought some semblant of peace to Tyria.

She helped take down Scarlet and discovered the dreadful truth about Sylvari: That they are the Jungle Dragon’s minions. She was given too little time to process this information as, when Mordremoth awoke, Maëliss was faced with an affliction greater than all others: The Dragon’s call. It was in a most distressed state of mind that she had to face the jungle’s hardships to rescue the Pact members and friends that were taken away by the Mordrem when the fleet was brought down by the beast. In the end, she and Iekko managed to take down the Elder Dragon, though it came at a great cost.

Now, with the White Mantle having resurfaced and Primordus becoming active, she is busier than ever.

Maëliss is usually a cheerful individual even though she is capable of throwing the biggest tanthrums over the smallest offenses. Her mood is, thankfully, easy to improve. She is undoubtedly self-centered and conceited and does not take well to not being the center of attention. She is easy-going, flirtatious even and sometimes needs to called out on her behaviour. For all her faults, she is a (mostly) caring and endearing person.

Aoife

RACE: Charr
LEGION: Iron
BIRTH YEAR: 1301 AE
HEIGHT: 180 cm
STATUS: Gladium, Pact Engineer
PROFESSION: Mechanist
ORIENTATION: Asexual/Homoromantic

Once, Aoife was a proud member of the Ardent warband as well as a talented engineer of the Iron Legion. On top of her inventive capacity she was a dedicated soldier and her allies relied a great deal on her abilities as a marksman. Aoife was also conceited and arrogant to a fault which lead to her warband’s downfall: Upon an attempt to take down a powerful Flame Legion Shaman, she was meant to insure the well-being of the operation and, even though she noticed that the pattern of the enemy soldiers was unusual which seemed to indicate that they knew of the maneuver, she decided to carry on the execution of the target on her own as she saw an opportunity to test out a newly designed rifle. Because she chose not to signal her warband that something was askew, they walked straight into a trap and were blown to pieces. While the explosion reached her, her distance from the scene allowed her to make it out alive.

Following this incident, Aoife was bedridden for weeks and for her to recover completely took several months more. Upon waking up, she was horrified to realize that her sight had been deeply affected, her left eye being practically blind.
Aoife’s recovery served as an excuse for her not to return to the battlefield but as time passed, it became apparent to her that this tragedy had softened her and that she never wished to experience such horrors again. Despite her mistake, she was still offered to join a few warbands again, as a soldier, but she refused each time. Her impaired sight, the wounds that still make her chest throb to this day as well as the guilt which has inhabited her for years have driven her away from the Charr’s ways and have made her a gladium.

Still, Aoife kept creating. Only, in addition to her numberous designs of turrets and other machines, she has also been designing fantastic pastries. Her cooking is extraordinary and it is something that she would prefer to share with others, rather than her work on weapons of war.

While she will never return to the battlefield, Aoife has become an engineer for the Pact upon its creation.

Sváfnir

RACE: Norn
Spirit: Bear
BIRTH YEAR: 1299 AE
HEIGHT: 230 cm
STATUS: Lone hunter, explorer
PROFESSION: Soulbeast
ORIENTATION: Gay

Sváfnir is what many would expect a Norn to be like: She is proud, mostly always optimistic and enjoys excessive consumption of meat and alcohol. Yet, unlike most Norn she does not pursue dreams of building some fantastic legend. In fact, she is perfectly content to live a simple life and to occasionally start a few fights with peers, dragon minions and local wild beasts. She does not have a commendable reputation and does not care to improve it.

Sváfnir did not have much guidance growing up. She was but a child when her parents were murdered by sons of Svanir. Although a distant relative took her in, they did not have time or will to raise her properly. And so she grew to become a burdensome teenager who would not pass on an occasion to get herself in trouble. For instance, she once bet she could wrestle a bear twice her size. She did win but barely survived to tell the tale. She did not learn from this. In fact, she’ll be glad and proud to show anyone which of her scars correspond to this event.

She met her lover Fjadrar during a bar fight (that she felt she just had to get involved in) in which the latter found herself badly injured after a man threw a bottle at her face, successfully piercing her left eye. Sváfnir took the woman home to help her with her wound. Eventually, the two developped feelings for one another.

Fjadrar and Sváfnir now live together in a house big enough to contain the mess both of them love to accumulate. While Fjadrar is a passionate engineer who lets her many tools pile up all over the ground, Sváfnir simply cannot resist the urge to take in every animal she comes across, using any excuse to justify why she felt the need to pick up yet another hoard of wild pigs. She is most proud of the names she gives them which include: Owl Nighter, Bear the beer, Don’t You Dare Steal My Steak You Little Shit, Pooper I, II and III and many other creative outbursts that Fjadrar has to accept.

Lelaa

Tag | Playlist
RACE: Asura
College: Synergetics
BIRTH YEAR: 1294 AE
HEIGHT: 88 cm
STATUS: Researcher & Professor
PROFESSION: Scourge
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

Lelaa was born the only progeny of two prominent researchers of the College of Statics. She demonstrated incredible intellectual capacities at a young age and her parents treated her more like a brilliant invention than a child to be cherished. Thus she developped into a workaholic woman who never quite managed to express her feelings properly (at the exception of anger and disappointment, emotions her parents had taught her well). Her parents separated but the rancor between them remained very much alive and palpable to Lelaa. It became clear to her that she abhored them and she hoped to distance herself from them and their legacy by joining the College of Synergetics. Her passion for History, her understanding of Philosophy and her talent for writing helped her become a valuable asset to her krewe.

There, she met an Asura named Dunnh, the first and closest friend she’s had. They worked together on a process revolving around the transmutation of souls into different bodies and inanimate objects. Lelaa’s aptitudes as an accomplished Necromancer combined with Dunnh’s knowledge of chemistry and alchemy allowed incredible albeit gruesome results. Ultimately, her respect of ethics and morals compelled her to distance herself from this project regardless of how insistent her friend was being.
When Dunnh finally approached her with a proposition: To join the Inquest alongside him, she refused to hear him out, appalled by his lack of principles. She was also mortified to hear that he had been giving away the results of their work to the Inquest.

From this day on, Lelaa has made it to a point to spite members of the Inquest openly and deliberately. Her hatred of them only grew stronger when a few retaliated by setting her home and lab on fire. While a great deal of her work was irrecoverable, the only loss Lelaa felt deeply upset about was that of her cat Lukka, not that anyone seemed to understand why.
Lelaa blamed her former comrade for this tragedy and stormed the complex she knew him to reside in only to stab him and leave him bleeding till death, regardless of how innocent he claimed to be.

Lelaa, unable to deal with the death of her beloved companion, picked her research regarding transmutation of souls back up so that she might be able to bring her back. Over the years, she was often tempted to give up seeing the monstrosities she created but, in the end, she successfully managed to breath life back into Lukka and to restitute her soul just the way it used to be (although no flesh was left on the feline’s body). Lelaa decided to keep this research for herself and destroyed everything she wrote on the matter.

Lelaa is a rigid and cynical individual with a sharp tongue. When she’s not seen barking at her unlucky assistant Tvekks (which could honestly very well be considered a full time job on its own) she works as a professor/researcher for the College of Synergetics. She loves to review people’s work, although it’s very likely they will not appreciate what she has to say. Her standards are hard to meet and she’s not kind to those who cannot reach them. Despite all this, she values ethics greatly.
While she will not willingly admit it, she is terrified of fire.

Nathanaël

Tag | Playlist
RACE: Human
DEITY: Lyssa
BIRTH YEAR: 1302 AE
HEIGHT: 176 cm
STATUS: Noble, Priory benefactor
PROFESSION: Weaver
ORIENTATION: Heterosexual

In 1072 AE, Tyria witnessed the rise of a great hero: a gifted elementalist who exposed the lies of the White Mantle, defeated the Mursaat as well as the Lich Lord and closed The Door of Komalie. The legend of how she saved mankind from the Titans and even defeated the Great Destroyer is a tale that has endured through the ages. Her lineage became an esteemed and wealthy noble Krytan house. Nathanaël was the first of the house in generations to develop a talent for elemental magic. His relatives instantly recognized in him a striking resemblance to his ancestor, albeit only physical. A lot was expected of him. With the rise of the Elder Dragon Zhaitan and the devastation caused by his minions, Nathanaël could have reclaimed this heroic heritage, taken arms against the corruption of Orr and saved Tyria once again. And yet he did none of that. Instead, he enjoyed the wealth and privileges passed on to him by his parents, spending his days reveling in the opulence of his refined surroundings.

While it is certain Nathanaël was a brilliant elementalist and went through thorough magical training, he never bothered to learn how to control any other element than fire. He was perfectly content boasting about his mastery of it, especially if it could turn a few ladies’ heads.
His arrogance and easy-going attitude is not easily bruised. Still there are topics he remains sensible about: notably the demise of his sister Isabelle who was murdered by members of the White Mantle. This greatly aggravated his hatred of the order.

While Nathanaël is doubtlessly an insufferable prick and no woman could count herself lucky to be at his side, he pursued the affection of a street thief, who happened to be most interested in the content of his wallet and ended up winning her over. While their relationship was often full of pitfals, the two had a lasting affair.

Nathanaël is a fervent patron of the Durmand Priory and has contributed financially to the well-being of many projects. He was requested to join a Priory’s ship as the Pact launched an attack on Mordremoth. Unfortunately, when the beast brought the fleet down, Nathanaël found himself lost, along with a team of researchers, in the heart of the jungle. In order to survive, he could not rely on his sole mastery of fire any longer and so he came to understand the value of other elements and learnt to control them. Nevertheless, he was powerless to save his companions and was fortunate to make it out alive.

This experience vastly affected and changed him. He has become more frigid. In fact, it has become significantly harder to make him crack a smile. Nathanaël now understands that the world can tip over in the blink of an eye and he has taken his role and privileges more seriously, hoping to help secure a future for humans (mostly those who are highborns that is). While he has become more humbled, he has also become ruthless in his views and, as a result, his relationship with Liggja has been severed. The reappearance of the White Mantle and the growing discord throughout Kryta are not helping soften his newfound radical utilitarian views.

RACE: Sylvari
CYCLE: Dawn
BIRTH YEAR: 1308 AE
HEIGHT: 185 cm
STATUS: Warden
PROFESSION: Willbender
ORIENTATION: Asexual

Gweirfyl awakened in 1308 AE, from a pod she shared with her twin brother, Ylkki. She rigorously follows Ventari’s teachings and despises the Nightmare Court and what they stand for. She works as a warden and, although the Grove is her home, she is often brought to travel to other locations of Tyria to help support the Wardens stationned there. While Gweirfyl enjoys travelling, being so far away from The Mother Tree and her brother can make her feel deeply homesick.

Gweirfyl is confident and her will is unwavering, she inspires strenght among the other Wardens and is respected as a leader for her competences. Because she appears emotionally distant (and is often obnoxious to humor), she is often mistaken to be a cold and rigid person and many are reluctant to approach and befriend her. However, she cares deeply for others and some have been shocked to see the extent of how kind a person she is.

Gweirfyl loves dogs. During a raid on Briathorn Den, she rescued and took in a fern puppy who had suffered extreme mistreatment. The Hound, whom they named Ferntari, has grown very attached to the twins and Gweirfyl is beside herself when she gets to see him again after a long trip away from home.

RACE: Sylvari
CYCLE: Night
BIRTH YEAR: 1305 AE
HEIGHT: 190 cm
STATUS: Nightmare Viscount
PROFESSION: Thief
ORIENTATION: Bisexual

In 1305 AE, with the split between Firstborn and Seconborn, the experimentations ran by Asura onto saplings and the advent of the Nightmare Court, the race of Sylvari knew a great deal of disturbances. This turmoil deeply affected the dream of Rivalàer, a Thirdborn who, upon awakening, had a natural curiosity for cruelty and an inherent attraction to the Court’s ideals. It did not take the sapling long to make the acquaintance of Nightmare recruiters.

Rivalàer’s predicaments made it easy for him to climb ranks and eventually, he became a viscount at the service of the Grand Duchess Faolain whom he greatly admires and adores. He is most dedicated to Nightmare and believes that it must overcome the Dream. He will stoop at nothing for this fancy to become the truth. He’s revered as a formidable leader in the court for these qualities.

Rivalàer represents all that is despicable about the Nightmare Court. He’s a vicious being whose greatest joy is to inflict pain onto others through the most diverse tortures. He’s a master of deception and treachery and loves to prey onto gentle love-filled souls. Broken hearts are, for him, something of beauty. It is safe to assume he is incapable of love and that the only semblant of attention he gives others is induced by lust. Many of his lovers have taken notice, though often too late, of some unique property of his: His spit dulls mind and limbs.

Rivalàer can often be seen escorted by Njálur, a skilled combatant who worships him and would lay down his life for him.

RACE: Norn
Spirit: Raven
BIRTH YEAR: 1307 AE
HEIGHT: 285 cm
STATUS: Raven Shaman
PROFESSION: Tempest
ORIENTATION: Bisexual

Joelsine is a gentle and loving person who gives a lot and expects nothing in return. Her father was a skilled and respected Raven shaman as well as her mentor. Unfortunately, he fell gravely ill and passed away when she was just a teenager and, even though she was not an accomplished shaman yet, his role, reputation and responsabilities were passed on to her. Riddled with grief, Joelsine did not seek comfort from her peers. Instead she found solace in her connexion to the Spirit World.

Joelsine’s misfortune did not end here. Her mother, a proud Vigil soldier, recently met with a tragic and violent death during the crash of the Pact fleet in the Maguuma Jungle. Her repeated experiences with loss made her very understanding toward anyone in the same predicament.

Joelsine is a talented shaman, as well as a most intelligent and learnt woman. She will gladly give an insight of the Spirit ways to anyone who shows interest in them and promises to treat the matter respectfully.
Unlike most Norn, Joelsine tends to shun crowds as well as loud, excessive festivities. Rather, she enjoys a quiet time on her own with a few books. She is a poor fighter and uses her competences as a water elementalist to mend wounds and help cure diseases.
Thanks to her soft nature and tender heart, she is appreciated by most.

Morván

RACE: Sylvari
CYCLE: Dusk
BIRTH YEAR: 1319 AE
HEIGHT: 182 cm
STATUS: Mercenary
PROFESSION: Renegade
ORIENTATION: Bisexual

In 1319 AE, Morván awakened. His dream had shown him glimpses of glory, hinting he would carry a destructive blow against the Nightmare Court. Not being the most humble individual, he interpreted he would be the champion who puts an end to Nightmare. Morván trained diligently as a Warden to fullfill what he believed was his destiny.
One would immediately take note of his striking beauty: His face, fair and soft, was crowned by thin branches sprinkled with delicate rosy blossoms, his gaze tender and reassuring. He was admired by many, including a mender called Tristen who became his lover.

Morván’s insolence as well as his repeated affronts to the Court earned him the enmity of its attendants. Among them was a baroness who desired to turn his aspirations to end Nightmare into a sinister Dark Hunt or at the very least to have him pay dearly for his impudence.
And so he was ambushed by her knights, taken to the Court where he was tortured till death. Morván’s corpse was left to decay in a jail, to strike fear into the heart of captive dreamers. However his journey did not end here. He wandered the Mists and met with legends of the past who advised and trained him. Because his was a violent death, Morván was drawn to the centaur Ventari who hoped to help the Sylvari soothe his pain and find peace. Yet his resentment and burning desire for vengeance also enticed him to seek out the spirit of Shiro Tagashi and let bitterness possess him.

Morván came back to life, dazed by his trip to the Mists, needing a few days to regain his senses; a few days during which he was deceived by the baroness who led him to believe he was part of the Court. Distressed, he went to find Tristen. However, the latter having heard of his prolonged stay at the Court and believing that his changed appearance was a sign he had embraced Nightmare, refused to hear him out and forsook him.
Morván found no empathetic soul among the rest of his peers. He became an outcast to the Sylvari but still could not resolve himself to return to the Court. Hence, he left Caledon forest hoping to build up a new life elsewhere.

After some unfruitful job experiences in Divinity’s Reach, Morvan turned to illegal activies to satisfate his need for coin. He worked alongside bandits but, in the end, his thirst for independency prompted him to become a mercenary. He has no qualms working for individuals with the most questionable motives be it pirates, bandits, consortium workers, members of the Inquest or even select members of the Nightmare Court.

Morván has many acquaintances but few to no friends. He is lucky to have found a companion he can confide his deepest anxieties to in the person of a pirate Charr called Nereida. While Morván is a bitter man who loves to wallow in his own misery and that his snarky and cynical attitude can put many off, he is occasionally good company and entertaining to be around.

RACE: Charr
LEGION: Blood
BIRTH YEAR: 1308 AE
HEIGHT: 198 cm
STATUS: Pirate
PROFESSION: Berserker
ORIENTATION: Bisexual

Nereida once was a member of the Blood Legion. Her sire was an esteemed Centurion and his ruthlessness kindled a lot of resentment and scorn for his daughter. Many watched her carefully hoping to use any misstep to express their disdain. Others expected her to perform greatly when she was barely doing alright. Until she wasn’t anymore. A mistake from her Legionnaire resulted in the death of a fellow warband member and quickly, the blame fell on Nereida for her alleged inability to protect her ally. Having had her reputation dragged through the dirt, she was outraged and attempted to call her Legionnaire out on his fault, challenging him to a fight in the arena.

She hoped to prove her worth, and redeem herself in her sire’s eyes, with a show of strenght but she was facing an opponent at least twice her age and with the experience to prove it. Her legionnaire made a quick work out of her but decided to spare her because of her young age. As punishment for her known stubornness, he broke one of her horns.
Nereida was expected to work as a scrapper, in order to exonerate herself but the sting of humiliation was too much to bear and she ran away.

For a long time, she felt lost and insecure and hoped to drink her sorrows and shame away. One day, equally imbibed pirates joined in to cheer her up. Nereida decided joining them didn’t sound half that bad and her dislike for authority as well as her desire to know true freedom made piracy seem like a glamorous choice.
She became a Convington pirate and earned the respect of her fellow outlaws after she saved the life of one of them by plunging head first in the sea in the middle of a storm. Her sturdy resolve and fearlessness earned her the nickname Stormsailer, as she made her way through the waves much like a steady sailboat would have.

She has become close friends with a troubled and troubling Sylvari mercenary named Morván who has caused her one too many worry. Despite her boorish nature, Nereida is greatly perceptive and cares for her friends.

Joan

RACE: Human
Deity: Kormir
BIRTH YEAR: 1308
HEIGHT: 187 cm
STATUS: Seraph
PROFESSION: Spellbreaker
ORIENTATION: Gay

Joan comes from a humble family of farmers who live in the fields of Shaemoor. She grew up on the tales of legendary heroes who would lay down their lives for their homeland. She nurtured adoration for the Seraph and dreamt of becoming one herself one day. As a teenager, Joan was thrilled to become a trainee and, with a lot of hard work and great support (financial as well as emotional) from her family, she managed to make her dream come true and become a full-fledged Seraph soldier. She lives with her parents still and intends to pay them back for all they did for her. She cannot bring herself to leave them and find a home for herself until she deems her debt toward them cleared. Furthermore, she is very attached to them and wishes to make the best out of her prolonged stay in the place she’s always known as her home.

Joan is stationned in Divinity’s Reach, under the command of Captain Logan Thackeray even though she’s also had to resolve incidents in Queensdale a great many times. Once, she took part in escorting Countess Anise to the Queen’s Forest and they were ambushed by a group of White Mantle cultists. Joan showed utmost bravery in protecting the countess although it nearly costed her her own life. Anise, impressed by her dedication and valor, has taken an interest in her and so the two have collaborated on many occasions.
Countess Anise often observes remarkable qualities in Joan that the latter is too modest to recognize and it often feels to her as if the noblewoman reads through her like an open book. Joan enjoys her company and, although she would never dare to confess it, she has developped romantic feelings for her.

All in all, Joan is a strong-willed woman even if sometimes stubborn to a fault. She values authority and is dedicated to upholding the law. While she is just and charitable as well as honest and kind, she often feels insecure regarding her social background when she finds herself among gatherings including members of the high society.

In 1323 AE, Isobrynn awakened from the Dream, along with her twin brother Gwennarth. Because they shared the same pod, they could always feel a strong bond toward one another. Isobrynn loved him greatly and it was rare to see her parted from him for more than a couple hours.

Gwennarth was eventually coerced into joining the Nightmare Court and Isobrynn found him changed. Ignorant to the powerful and abiding grip of Nightmare, she hoped to reason with him. The realization that he would not come back to the Dream left her brokenhearted for she wished to always be with him but knew that she could not resolve herself to join him in Nightmare. Still he insisted she does and frenziedly grasped her face to keep her from walking out on him, ripping her face apart in the process. She broke free and ran back to the Grove where she underwent intensive treatment.

Inconsolable, Isobrynn sought guidance from Tristen, one of the menders who helped her wounds heal; he too lost a beloved one to the Court. The counsel he gave her was to reject her brother entirely and that, for her broken heart to heal, she should grow to despise him. This prompted her to hunt down Gwennarth and wreak vengeance upon him. Discovering how miserable Nightmare had made him, she prefered to let him live. Instead, she carved into his face and marked it, much like what he had done to hers.

Hoping that she might soothe her own pain, Isobrynn set out to travel the world to mend the earth. However her attempts to connect with nature are often fruitless and render her frustrated and resentful.

While Isobrynn is kind, bitterness inhabits hers and, in truth, her constant grief does not make her pleasant company. She is prompt to anger and hatred and does not forgive easily for she believes people do not change. Moreover, she is not one to aknowledge her own faults.

Gwennarth awoke in 1323 AE, along with his twin sister Isobrynn. As all Sylvari twins do, the two felt a great empathy toward one another. Gwennarth loved his sister above all else and would not be willingly separated from her.

A few months past his awakening, Gwennarth was taken by courtiers who exposed him to the most excruciating torture. Yearning to see his sister again and desperate for this ordeal to end, he embraced Nightmare. He went to find Isobrynn, believing that being reunited with her in the court could fill the growing loneliness inside him. However, when she refused to come along, he became frantic and forceful. Because she resisted, he unwittingly tore her face asunder. Shocked, he let go of her and retired to the court to lament over his actions.

Eventually, Isobrynn sought him out and attacked him. Still deploring what he did to her during their last encounter, Gwennarth begged for her forgiveness but his remorse was met with indifference and the cold hard steel of his sister’s blade. She hacked into his face repeatedly, lacerating it before leaving him bleeding and crying on the ground.

Gwennarth will do about anything to fit in the Court and earn some sort of respect but, while he is dedicated to spreading Nightmare, he recoils at the idea of torturing others and is constantly reminded of the horrors he was put through. While Gwennarth deeply wishes to be with Isobrynn, he refuses to coerce her into joining the Court and hopes that she will someday do so of her own accord. He believes this to be the only way for him to reach happiness.

My work's a crime to be forgiven.
_
Dunnh had always been the one to go unnoticed. The third progeny of his family, having had to compete with two successful and talented siblings, his own competences were often glossed over. Nevertheless, he strove for greatness at all times.
He was always an inquisitive and inventive individual and hoped to prove it when he joined the College of Synergetics. There, he met Lelaa, a brilliant student whose intelligence he respected and admired. The two became good friends but it was clear to him that when walking alongside her, he’d always be in her shadow.

Together, Dunnh and Lelaa worked on a process that would allow the transmutation of one’s soul into a foreign body or inanimate object, through various methods, all in order to attain eternal life. While his knowledge of chemistry and alchemy was an asset, he knew that he could have never managed to successfully pursue this project without her. That’s why, when Lelaa announced him that she could not resolve herself to keep it going seeing how many horrors their experiments had resulted in, Dunnh struggled to accept it. Eventually, so that he could get the ressource to maintain this research growing without feeling held back by ethical boundaries, he started sharing the fruit of both of their work with the Inquest, securing himself a position in their ranks.
Lelaa did not react well to the announcement that he intended to continue exploring the matter after graduating within the Inquest. She was angrier still when she realized he plagiarized her work in the process. Dunnh hoped that she might come to understand his stance and work for the Inquest alongside him but she rejected his offer as well as his friendship.

Dunnh is a staunch follower of the maxims “The end justifies the means.” and “Knowledge is power.”
His cutthroat and determined demeanor allowed him to climb ranks quickly inside the Inquest. Ultimately, he became an Inquisitor, a position for which his meticullous and unforgiving qualities were perfectly fit.

Dunnh often dwelled on his lost friendship with Lelaa but was not so thrilled to see her again, years after they cancelled their relation. He was overseeing a group of researchers in Metrica Province when she broke into the complex, mercilessly slaying guards and workers. She was accusing him of having torched her home and lab, killing her cat in the process, a crime he had no hand in whatsoever. His claim of innocence fell on deaf ears and Lelaa did not hesitate nor did she quiver when she stabbed him. The blow missed his heart, only by a few inches, and Dunnh was thankful that, for once, her seemingly flawless understanding of anatomy had failed her. To this day, the scar she has left onto his chest serves as a reminder of how deeply terrifying and yet so profoundly fascinating he finds her to be.

Dunnh is certainly not one to let his employees cross or disappoint him. He is not fundamentally sadistic but he will humiliate, threaten or even discard anybody who he deems has outlived their usefulness or simply has vexed him on particularly bad day. He is undoubtedly a master of interrogation but when his technique fails him, he makes it a point to dissect the issue through other means.
Many who have found themselves working under his command fear him and rightly so but, outside of the work area, Dunnh can be a sympathetic person to be around although he mostly only shows this side of himself to people of equal rank or that he views to be on par with him.

Oylbhe (Oil’ for friends) awakened in 1327 AE, during the cycle of Noon. Avid to discover the wonders of the world, the most excitable sapling almost immediately wandered out of the Grove. The Dream had showed her visions of rowdy adventures and large explosions and so Oylbhe was drawn to the Black Citadel and took an immediate liking to the Charr. There, she got acquainted with a warband of scrappers who didn’t see the harm in letting a Sylvari in on their affairs, so long as an extra pair of hands helped them get the job done faster. Oylbhe enjoyed working with the Charr and discovered a passion for salvaging and building things back up. While she received a great deal of snide remarks, nothing ever seemed to faze her.

Because of her carefree attitude and the wide silly grin that is so often plastered on her face, Oylbhe is often thought to be dim-witted. And yet, she is most inventive and her contraptions, though sometimes bizzare, are very unique and avant-gardist. Testing the invention is her favourite moment of the creative process, regardless of how dangerous it can be. She is optimistic at all times and does not care for the image others have of her.

Another of Oylbhe’s talents is to eat without cease from the most refined dish to the rawest chicken wing, without noticing any difference between the two. She refuses to see any food go to waste and will not go one day without meat. Anyone willing to share their snack with her is a trustworthy friend.

Esther was born in a destitute district of Divinity's Reach, the bastard daughter of a noble minister and of a former servant of his. Her mother used what few savings she managed to put together to send her off to a remote monastery where she could obtain a proper education and a chance at a brighter future.

In the past, she hadn't had any access to books but, since the monastery was essentially a library, and, because she prefered the company of scrolls to that of the monks, she discovered, among the withering pages of her silent friends, a passion for history, even more so for Canthan history.

Her stay at the monastery gave her time to reflect on her life and on her deepest anxieties but it also gave her time to practice her skills. For years she worked on spells that would allow her to alter the appearance of objects and beings. While she started with quills and mice, her talent improved to the point that changing rags into dresses and making scars disappear in the blink of an eye became like a second nature to her.
Upon reaching fifteen years of age, years of hard work were rewarded when Esther's skills enabled her to transform her appearance permanently. Esther abandonned her past self, discarded her birth name and recreated her identity entirely. As of then, she would be known as Esther of Thewell, and nobody would mistake her for a boy again.
However transitioning was only the first step of this fresh start. Esther had always been fascinated by the noble intrigues that shape the daily lives in the upper circles of Divinity's Reach and she longed to finally be a part of it.

She left the monastery without a word, leaving no trace of herself nor of her work behind. She set out to discover the identity of her father. Finding out he was the villain she always imagined him to be, she blackmailed him by threatening him to expose him as a cheating, lying cockroach.
Extorting him made it possible for her to buy a title and a domain. Thus she was able to make her appearance as a rich and mysterious baroness and to start a business as a fashion designer and stylist.

On occasion she haunts the site of her childhood, not unlike a ghost come back to glance at the remnants of its past life. She always leaves a little something behind, for those who were kind to her and for her mother, to ensure that their life improves as hers did.

Esther appears to wear her heart on her sleeve, she's expressive, a little dramatic perhaps. She's overly fond of gossips and likes to spread around herself, whether they concern her or a peer. Able and witty, she's indisputably knowledgeable but often prefers to entertain herself with mundane and superficial topics. All in all she's a gracious and generous friend as well as a passionate lover with a fondness for romance.
